The requirement of the role is to maximize the efficiency and profitability of the company's logistics operations while also working towards achieving best practice in systems, process and technology, continuous improvement, supply chain, automation and delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing and designing logistics strategies for future effectiveness as well as providing leadership and guidance to teams to deliver on identified opportunities
- Leading and managing the Logistics Team to include activities such as supervising and evaluating job performance
- Developing the team by building and supporting people development strategy (standardizing roles, defining skills & key attributes, implementing training and development plans, etc.)
- Accountable for meeting the needs of the business by developing key transportation performance metrics and ensuring the day-to-day achievement of deliverables
- Accountable for setting and meeting established team performance metrics as well as fostering a culture to motivate and deliver consistent team success
- Collaborating with sales and manufacturing teams to ensure logistics solutions are in place to meet business objectives
- Being well versed with experience in logistics issues, including market conditions and headwinds to be proactively communicated to the business
- Building, increasing, and maintaining vendor relationships through thoughtful rate and contract negotiations
- Identifying gaps and initiatives to educate stakeholders on how to support operational savings and efficiency
- Facilitating conflict resolution and change management to achieve desired results
- Fostering an environment of cross-functional collaboration through open communication
Skills and Qualifications:
- Self-driven, motivated, dependable, and innovative leader with demonstrated success within a Supply Chain organization
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field required
- Minimum 5 Years Transportation and Logistics Experience
- Experience in developing relationships and motivating teams
- Experience working across all levels of an organization
- Experience driving performance through metrics and using data to drive continuous improvement
- Demonstrated organizational development and personnel management skills
- Transportation industry knowledge by mode; including safety requirements, laws, and regulations
- Experience with a large enterprise resource planning system
- Experience with rate and contract negotiations
