Supplier Quality Engineer

Summary: A large Automotive Manufacturing corporation is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer for their California facility. This person will coordinate with suppliers to ensure proper quality procedures, perform root cause analysis of issues, spearhead process improvement, perform internal audits, and monitor any mechanical issues throughout the facility.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for:
- Create and maintain long-term supplier relationships
- Identify areas of need, recommend process improvement strategies, and monitor any repeat issues
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering and New Product Development teams to utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) framework to ensure product development processes are in line with Company and Industry Quality standards
- Play a key part in the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure that supplier products are compliant with quality standards
- Initiate and support supplier performance improvement products
- Work cross functionally with manufacturing and operations to resolve any assembly related problems
- Lead random audits of process control and test procedures
- Resolve any manufacturing mechanical issues by analyzing the problem and finding an effective solution
The Supplier Quality Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree; Engineering or other technical field of study a plus
- 2+ years of supplier quality experience
- Expertise with ISO 9001 or other ISO standards
- Working knowledge of quality system methodologies (APQP, PFMEA, PPAP etc.)
- Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement Principles and methodologies
- APQP experience
- Experience with SAP and specialized software
