Quality Assurance Manager

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
- At least 2 years of quality experience, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience with a beverage, food, or liquid consumer products manufacturer.
- Effective negotiation skills with the ability to actively listen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office.
- Positive attitude with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, and energetic.
- HACCP Certified or the ability to become certified upon hiring.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act at the plant.
- Ensure conformance to corporate quality assurance programs to prevent beverage quality or safety issues at manufacturing facilities (including off-site storage).
- Monitor finished product quality results to meet corporate and customer specifications.
- Supervise the quality team.
- Manage department spending within budget.
- Develop skills of direct reports and plant employees.
- Maintain audit- and inspection-ready status for the plant.
- Provide support for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
- Identify and lead Process Improvement initiatives.
- Build rapport with Plant and QA managers across company locations.
- Develop and document a complete HACCP and QACCP plan for the plant.
- Create and maintain a specific QA/QC SOP manual for the plant.
- Troubleshoot problems related to finished product production, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Implement controls, sample plans, hold/release system modifications, code rotation, batching, and processing controls.
- Coordinate QA efforts with R&D.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the integrated pest management system.
- Ensure manufacturing and raw material specifications are current and enforced.
- Stay informed about industry, regulatory, and certifying agency guidelines.
- Oversee management of change at the plant.
- Manage regulatory components within the assigned region (process filings, water quality testing, unannounced inspections, label compliance, net weight, etc.).
- Participate in monthly financial calls.
Essential Skills:
- Understand financial information for effective communication across the organization.
- Learn and use software programs (e.g., Presage, Margin Miner, JDE) to evaluate quality data.
- Maintain a positive, adaptable attitude in a fast-paced teamwork environment.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
- Apply sanitation knowledge to develop risk-based cleaning procedures.
- Analyze financial statements, company metrics, and water capital projects.
- Work independently on multiple projects.
