Food Scientist - Regulatory Manager needed for an American Pet Food Manufacturer

One of the nation's premier pet food manufacturers is looking for a Food Scientist to lead their rapidly expanding team!
This Regulatory Manager will maintain compliance with applicable regulatory bodies including AAFCO, FDA, and USDA. The candidate will report directly into the Vice President Strategic Quality & Process Development and will play a critical role in leveraging their food science background to participate in the creation of new processes and ingredient streams to advance pet food manufacturing in the Bethlehem, PA facility.
The Food Scientist - Regulatory Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Review and approve all new and revised product labels
- Handle compliance activities with State, Federal, Canadian, UK, and EU authorities
- Conduct finished product analytical audit programs to ensure label compliance
- Maintenance of GMO Compliance programs
- Manage multiple projects and showing technical competence in the planning and completion of assigned projects
- Record, collate, evaluate, and interpret experimental data and make appropriate recommendations to all levels in the organization through written or oral reports
- Participate and support QA team in yearly SQF certification including internal audits and paperwork compliance
- Anticipate emerging issues that may impact pet food growth profile
- Continue to advance the strong relationship with state and federal regulators
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of pet food regulatory experience with a strong understanding of the USDA, AAFCO, FDA, and the PFI organizations
- Ability to travel 20% - 40% in order to attend all AAFCO, PFI and other regulatory meetings
- Experience managing at least 1 direct report
