Role Overview: As the Category Manager for films and plastics in the medical device industry, you will play a critical role in developing and executing strategic procurement strategies for materials essential to our product manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for films and plastics procurement, aligning with business objectives, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers of films and plastics materials, fostering strategic partnerships and negotiating contracts to secure favorable terms, pricing, and quality standards.
Cost Optimization: Analyze market trends, pricing dynamics, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for cost reduction and value enhancement in films and plastics procurement processes.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance and engineering teams to ensure the selection of materials that meet regulatory requirements, product specifications, and quality standards.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with films and plastics procurement, including supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and regulatory compliance, implementing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard product continuity.
Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, execution, and management of contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, service level agreements (SLAs), and performance metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal stakeholders, including manufacturing, R&D, supply chain, and finance teams, to align films and plastics procurement strategies with business goals and operational requirements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CIPS) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement or category management roles, with a focus on films and plastics procurement within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies, driving cost savings, and optimizing materials procurement.
- Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience, with the ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Solid understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance requirements related to films and plastics materials in the medical device industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and verbal.
