A leading company in crafting premium natural pet food, treats, dental chews, and supplements is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about advancing technology in the pet food manufacturing industry, based in Decatur, Arkansas.
Your Role:
As a Controls Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and configuring plant-wide instrumentation, controls, and strategic systems, ensuring smooth manufacturing operations. Your role is critical in supporting our operations, troubleshooting, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and configure control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
- Design and engineer electrical systems to support processes.
- Select, procure, and install instruments and control systems.
- Provide frontline support and troubleshooting.
- Assist in training staff on new and upgraded systems.
- Customize software solutions based on requirements.
- Program control systems as needed.
- Interface with vendors and project teams.
- Conduct technical design reviews.
- Manage projects within cost and schedule constraints.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Technical degree in an Engineering-related field.
- At least 4 years of experience with PLC programming and GUI systems.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows-based programs).
- Knowledge of process control systems (utility controls, steam, water, air).
- Experience configuring industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments (e.g., climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds).
Additional Skills:
- Experience with Controllogix processors, Rslogix 5000 software, AOI blocks programming, object-oriented programming, Factory Talk SE, VBA scripting, Wonderware GUI, Wonderware servers, Wonderware Historian, Dream Reports programming, electrical control, instrumentation, and Allen Bradley VFD's (preferably 525 series).
- Ability to coach and mentor frontline automation engineers.
- Expertise in developing scope for capital projects and implementing automation control systems.
