Category Manager Procurement - Chemicals
A global leader in packaging and paper are looking for a Category Manager in Starches and Fillers. This company has over 100.000 customized innovative solutions that are sustainable by design for packaging and paper. With a global presence of 26.000 people in more than 100 operations in over 30 countries.
They are looking for specialist procurement professional in Chemicals and most importantly Starches and Fillers. They need a Self-confident, pro-active and "hands-on" personality, who is used to working independently, but who can equally work in teams across countries and cultures and enjoys working with a production environment in the paper mill.
The Role:
- Define, implement, and monitor the sourcing strategy in alignment with defined stakeholder
- Maintain and perform supplier relationship management
- Analysis of procurement market and market monitoring (e.g. screening of new products and suppliers) to develop suitable category strategy according to global, regional and local strategies and targets
- Responsible for the process of supplier selection, rating (incl. audits) and development
- Conduct regular supplier evaluations, performance benchmarking and supplier visits
- Conduct supplier risk management and monitors supplier performance
- Represents the one face to the supplier (e.g. claim management)
- Collaboration and coordination of strategies and activities within his/her area of responsibility to the stakeholders (plants/other BUs)
- Understand plant/mill related requirements and needs
- Searches for innovation and supports the development of simultaneous engineering activities and processes
- Develop, define, implement and measure cost saving activities to reach optimum purchasing conditions and to increase supplier performance and minimizes risk
- Control target/actual comparisons to reach optimum price & bonus conditions
- Drives material qualification process
- Collaboration on planning, budgeting and analysis tasks
Skills and Experience Required
- Cross functional leadership skills, communication and presentation skills, ability to simplify complex data inputs
- Ability to manage various stakeholders (internal and external) by setting the right priorities and ensuring flow in communication
- Supplier knowhow to achieve optimal sourcing solutions and drive for realisation
- Ability to understand local requirements and challenges
- Excellent organizational skills - ability to work on multiple projects
- Min 10 years experience in chemical/paper making technical role, procurement/sales experience is an advantage
- Chemistry and Chemical Technology or Pulp and Paper making experience
- English (fluent) & local language
