A rapidly growing Automotive Start-up in the Bay Area is seeking a skilled Lead Automotive Upholstery Technician to join the team. The team comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds including marketing, technology, engineering, design, and automotive enthusiasts.
Position Summary:
As a part of the Upholstery Team, you will play a crucial role in crafting interior components for the range of vehicles, including vintage cars and trucks. Your expertise in upholstery techniques and materials will be instrumental in tailoring vehicle interiors to meet the unique preferences of the clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Program Manager to ensure timely completion of upholstery projects.
- Provide leadership to the Upholstery Team by offering guidance, training, and demonstrating best practices.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to identify and implement process improvements.
- Prepare surfaces and remove existing upholstery for installation.
- Create patterns for seats and components, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Cut, sew, and install new upholstery materials.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive upholstery preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automotive Upholstery Technician.
- Proficiency in upholstery techniques, materials, and tools.
- Strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
- Experience with leather upholstery preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
