Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Automation Engineer with expertise in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to spearhead the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions for our clients in Connecticut. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions that exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for industrial automation projects.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their automation requirements, develop technical specifications, and propose tailored solutions to meet their needs.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept and design to installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Conduct thorough system integration testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the automation systems.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, and incorporate them into our solutions to maintain our competitive edge.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, electrical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of automation systems with other components.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on automation technologies, participating in client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to address any questions or concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial automation, with a focus on PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and executing automation projects from conception to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text), HMI development tools (e.g., Wonderware, FactoryTalk), and SCADA software (e.g., Ignition, WinCC).
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and networking principles.
- Experience with hardware selection, system integration, and troubleshooting of automation systems in manufacturing or process industries.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams.
