Position Overview:
My client is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Director to lead our procurement operations within the construction industry. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and subcontractors while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's construction projects and overall business objectives.
- Lead the sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, securing favorable terms and conditions.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring reliable and high-quality sourcing.
- Conduct regular evaluations of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure performance meets the company's standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to innovate and improve cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with project budgets and financial goals.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to achieve procurement cost reduction targets.
- Conduct regular cost analysis to track expenditures and optimize procurement costs.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company requirements, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions and other procurement-related risks.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement activities.
Process Improvement and Efficiency:
- Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Implement best practices in procurement, leveraging technology and data analytics to optimize sourcing and procurement operations.
- Oversee the use of procurement software and tools, ensuring effective utilization and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and support professional development opportunities for team members.
- Encourage collaboration and communication across the procurement team and with other departments.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure procurement aligns with project timelines, budgets, and specifications.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between procurement and other departments to optimize project outcomes.
Sustainability Initiatives:
- Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies, ensuring that sourcing decisions support the company's environmental and social responsibility goals.
- Promote the use of environmentally friendly materials and practices in construction projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Industrial experince preferred
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale procurement operations and supplier relationships.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, services, and market trends.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
