A prominent company in the Defense and Space Manufacturing sector is in search of a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader. The EHS Leader will have a pivotal role in the company's core expansion, while upholding their dedication to excellence. This role involves direct reporting to the Facilities Manager and managing the daily operational requirements related to Facilities and EHS procedures. The EHS Leader will also be tasked with the onboarding and training of new employees in relevant procedures, carrying out preventative maintenance tasks, and keeping track of related records.
Responsibilities of the Sr. EHS Lead:
- Manage and uphold the overall accountability for EHS and Sustainability initiatives, their execution, enhancement, and supervision
- Perform internal assessments, checks, and related activities to confirm the ongoing efficiency of the Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives
- Ensure that buildings are kept in a secure, tidy, professional, and operationally efficient state
- Take the lead or support in relevant Facilities and EHS regulatory inspections, external audits, client audits, and internal audits
- Successfully direct emergency preparedness, including hazardous waste training, fire drills, and employee communications
- Possess computer skills to fulfill work orders from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Capable of acquiring and preserving an active DoD security clearance
Qualifications for the Ideal Sr. EHS Lead:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent years of relevant experience
- Master's degree in related field a plus
- 3+ years prior Aerospace, Defense, or Aviation experience in environmental health & safety in a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Proven on-site emergency response experience
- Prior experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment
- Comprehensive understanding of OSHA principles and best practices
- LEAN/Six Sigma experience a plus
- Proven leadership abilities
